ABOUT DAN ROOT
Associate – Director Art Investment
A fluent German speaker, Mr Dan Root has lived and worked on three continents underlining our company’s genuine interest in working with individuals that enjoy a sound understanding of multicultural awareness.
His entry into art sales and helping art collectors acquire museum-quality and investment-quality artwork began with photography. After obtaining his degree at Grossmont College in San Diego, he completed his education a few years later at the School of Visual Arts in New York with an additional degree in Graphic and Web Design. Intimately convinced that passion in the workplace leads to success, Dan Root was fortunate to be involved in the art industry for 12 years and held prominent art consultancy positions in Manhattan at the prestigious Macklowe Gallery on Madison Avenue, and most recently for the Franklin Bowles Galleries in San Francisco and New York.
Whereas his early years in photography laid emphasis on still life, Dan Root went on to specialize in photographing antique and estate jewelry. In the early 2000s, he lived in Zurich where he worked for Taennler of Switzerland, photographing their jewelry collections. His work was featured in Italian Vogue, Gold’Or Magazine and other publications. A few years later, while working for the Macklowe Gallery in New York, he designed a state-of-the-art studio to photograph jewelry and original Art Nouveau and Art Deco sculpture and furniture.
This years-long immersion in photographing jewelry and art strengthened his expertise leading him to work with wealthy clientele to add jewelry, paintings, sculpture, period furniture and museum-quality lighting to their collections.
For the last years Dan Root has worked exclusively with art collectors, presenting artwork in a number of environments: Art galleries, client’s homes, hotel rooms, art fairs, and recently over Skype, integrating the latest technology to reach out to art and the youngest generation. He has extensive experience with auctions, being the “man with the black tie” at the back of the room representing anonymous bidders who trusted him over the phone.
Next to his passion for art, Dan Root also holds a license in Real Estate brokerage, an interest that seems to him like a natural progression. Having spent many hours in clients’ homes speaking about art, he believes that selling the homes where art dwells makes sense. He is also an avid reader of French and American literature, and a regular snowboarder.
With his impressive knowledge of fine art, combined with his refined communication and presentation skills, Luxury Capital Partners knows he will be an instrumental part in our clients’ art investing decisions moving forward.
