Luxury Capital Partners attended ITB Berlin 2018 : How was it, Mr Daniel Tschudy?
/in News, News & Press releases/by luxurycapitalparPress release – Geneva, Switzerland, 15 March 2018
LCP attended ITB Berlin 2018 : How was it, Mr Daniel Tschudy?
Luxury Capital Partners (LCP), the boutique international investment and development consultancy, which operates in more than 30 countries on four continents, was delighted to attend this year’s edition of ITB Berlin with Daniel Tschudy, Associate and Director for Hospitality Investments. Back from Germany, Daniel found a few minutes to share his expert impressions with us, and why he will definitely attend this unavoidable major industry event next year again.
LCP: Daniel, what made you visit ITB in Berlin?
ITB has become a “monster“ in global tourism. Founded in 1966 as a little “overseas-import-exhibition”, it now hosts more than 10‘000 exhibitors from 186 countries and territories. Messe Berlin offers for ITB its entire 160‘000 m2 of space over the 26 halls. I attended the shows many times in the 80ies/90ies, but this was my first visit for 15 years. Motivated by one specific investment-related meeting for LCP, I decided to attend the full 3 days for trade visitors. Along with 110‘000 other professionals from tourism and hospitality!
It seems that is quantity-driven?
Actually no. Other 60‘000 private visitors attend the public days. But during the 3 trade days, the entire global travel and tourism industry attends. Ministers, Media, Airlines, Tour Operators, Hotels groups, you name it. They are all professionals. The challenge is to plan your 3 days and evenings well, and well in advance. The sheer size of the show makes you walk from one appointment to another for hours and hours. We are talking about 26 halls in total.
What was your personal objective at ITB?
Obviously, the hotel industry is my speciality… although, I must admit, at those huge stands (sometimes literally buildings) more sales staff are present than top management. Those leaders, investors, hotel owners are present too, but they fly-in for specific meetings, networking, and even educational session. It is not easy to touch base with them. That’s why, one needs to prepare ITB 5 to 6 weeks in advance in order to have a sensible, smooth and feasible agenda.
How can ITB serve LCP’s interest?
First of all, ITB gives new ideas, shows trends, and identifies future challenges in the industry. That’s interesting for everybody dealing with this trade. Of particular interest is the luxury segment. ITB has featured two new platforms: One is the „Loop-Lounge“, an office for independent and owner-managed luxury hotels as well as luxury tourism products worldwide. It’s organised by Lobster Experience, who have their own segmented exhibition „luxury on the planet“. And the other one was the ITB Luxury Late Night … which, I’m afraid, I could not attend, because my evenings were pre-booked too.
Do you plan to attend again next year?
Yes, ITB was powerful, tiring…Inspirational! But, I’ll do my agenda much earlier and take the geography of the show in consideration, because sometimes, one could walk half-an-hour from one stand to another. Whereas it may be not too bad for your stamina, my feet still „complained” – so my 2019-planning will be much better ! See you next year on March 6-10, 2019 !

Luxury Capital Partners Bids Farewell to Rasheed Goldring
Luxury Capital Partners (LCP), the boutique international investment and development consultancy, which operates in more than 30 countries on four continents, starts the New Year with a new Executive Team and says goodbye to Rasheed Goldring, former Executive Vice President in charge of the US market. From the start of 2018, the Executive Board will include Mrs Phyllis Koessler-Collins, Mrs Nina Ghafoor, Mr Dean Harley, Mr Kashan Rafique and Mr Yannick Lee Jacquier. Mr Rasheed Goldring will pursue higher university studies as part of a new chapter in his life.
Rasheed Goldring participated in the creation of Luxury Capital Partners and was part of the Executive Team since its early days. A Washingtonian resident, his duties included the development of the US market. Late 2017, Mr Goldring was given the possibility to further increase his knowledge in international business & trade, and attend a Master level university course starting this year. His decision to focus on his studies and further development was praised by the rest of the Executive Team, and strongly supported.
Phyllis Koessler-Collins, LCP Senior Partner and Chief Operating Officer, commented “Rasheed is a young and ambitious man who has a great opportunity to gain additional skills through this educational degree. LCP is a strong advocate of continued education for all partners and associates. It would have been against our principals to withstand his decision to focus on his academics and we are grateful for his work at LCP. Even though he will be missed, we know he will thoroughly enjoy writing this new chapter in his life and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours. At LCP, his departure coincides with our intention to completely review our approach of the Americas, and not only the US sector. We will take advantage of the upcoming quarter which will see quite interesting news especially in relation with our UHNW clients, and we look forward to share this next development phase with our existing & upcoming partners”.
From 1 January 2018, clients who have been attended by Mr Goldring during his time at Luxury Capital Partners, will be assisted by Mrs Koessler-Collins directly.

A Stronger Expert In The Team As Our Associate Zsolt Katona Passes His Cornell Certification
/in News & Press releases/by luxurycapitalparGeneva, Switzerland, 20th June, 2016
Luxury Capital Partners (LCP), the boutique international investment and development consultancy, which operates in more than 30 countries on four continents, is proud to announce that Mr Zsolt Katona successfully passed his exams in Hotel Real Estate Investments & Asset Management from the prestigious Cornell University.
One of the most renowned universities in the world for hotel, hospitality and real estate investment studies, Cornell University enables professionals and entrepreneurs to study and work at the same time through various high level courses, offering several industry examples and case studies with a flexible schedule so participants may continue with their day-to-day activities or ongoing projects. Such opportunities also grant attendees working in the industry or developing a relevant project to directly apply the knowledge, the skills and examples to their own business resulting in a very pragmatic and reality-oriented curriculum.
One of our most active and youngest associates in charge of Real Estate Investments in North & Eastern Europe, Zsolt was mostly together with hotel and hospitality professionals boasting outstanding contacts between the owners and the operators. During his studies, Zsolt met mainly with hotel General Managers, Investment Professionals, Asset Managers and operating companies active in Acquisition and Development fields.
“This course definitely gave me lots of knowledge and a clear overview on the role of the owner, operator and the financial involvement of any transaction and real estate investment. It is very important to understand the motivation of each party in a deal and identify the best option for all parties whether they are owner, operator or lender. A properly structured hotel investment creates value and provides benefits to all partners in a deal. Now I can directly apply this knowledge to my investment fund project which is currently open for general partnership with well-established investment companies who are looking to expend their presence in Switzerland or in Central eastern Europe, and further increase the strength of expertise that Luxury Capital Partners offers to all its clients” says Zsolt Katona.
Phyllis Koessler-Collins, LCP Senior Partner and Chief Operating Officer, commented “We were delighted to congratulate Zsolt on his recent success in his exams and are very proud to count such an outstanding associate within our team. Zsolt’s commitment to excellence and precision in his daily work are values that we share at LCP. The fact that he has added such an impressive school to the list of academic institutions he attended underlines not only Zsolt’s dedication to continuously improve his knowledge of the market, but also LCP’s policy to provide only the best to our clients and partners. We look forward to an increased number of successful cooperations with him”.

MoMA, the Guggenheim and Picasso
/in Art Matters/by luxurycapitalparIt has always been a privilege for me to consult with collectors of Pablo Picasso’s artwork. Being a collector and admirer of Picasso and the master artists of the 20th century has enabled me to share my passion with art collectors, helping them understand the artwork not just from a perspective of beauty in the work itself, but lending the artwork the benefit of the historical context it deserves.
I took time off during a busy few days recently in New York City to revisit the Pablo Picasso paintings housed in the permanent collections at the Guggenheim Museum and Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). It was a reminder that viewing these paintings online or in publication pales in comparison to seeing these works in person.
The monumental Les Demoiselles d’Avignon is on permanent display at MoMA, and standing in front of it again I was reminded what a visceral painting this is. The painting appears as fresh as the day it was created. As with many of Picasso’s oil paintings, his compositions appear ageless, never dated. We subconsciously consider Picasso’s paintings as modern even as we stand in front of a work created over 100 years ago. To say Picasso was “ahead of his time” is an understatement. His artwork stands on its own, never belonging to a movement other than one he had created himself. To stand in front of Les Demoiselles d’Avignon and look at the faces of the women staring unflinchingly back challenging the viewer to look away, is an incredible experience, and one that is essential for the serious admirer and collector of Picasso’s artwork.
At the Guggenheim Museum, visitors have the opportunity to view paintings spanning the majority of Picasso’s artistic creation, from 1900 (Le Moulin de la Galette) to as late as 1965 (Le homard et le chat). One of the most recognizable paintings in the collection, Femme aux cheveux jaunes (1931), is a fantastic example of what some art professors call “complexity resolved.” At this point in Picasso’s career he had an ongoing challenge with Henri Matisse to create a finished composition with as few lines as possible, which art professors have also given a term to, “economy of means.”
If you follow the lines in Femme aux cheveux jaunes, you see how few there really are; the hair turns into an arm and the edge of the sofa’s fabric defines the figure’s lap. The hidden genius behind this painting is reflected in Picasso’s ability to show volume with minimal shading. This, combined with strong unbroken lines, is a clear example of “complexity resolved.”
I am proud to offer my consulting services to collectors and investors in fine art. My initial approach when working with potential investors is to help them “see” the paintings that they’re considering and to help them define their own personal taste. Collecting from a place of passion and context gives investors the chance to make informed buying decisions, ultimately leading to a stronger and potentially more valuable art collection.
Please contact me to make an appointment to discuss your own interests in art collecting and investing and to learn about the consulting services I offer.

LCP multiplies secure and discreet investment options
/in News & Press releases/by luxurycapitalpar
As the volatility on the markets and growing security issues in various regions of the world create an increasing concern from many of our clients in Asia and Middle East, Luxury Capital Partners (LCP) has decided to dedicate more energy, manpower and time to clients seeking for urgent safe investments in countries that provide safety, discretion and stability.
LCP is proud to offer a dimension of exemplary quality services to both our corporate and UHNW individual clients mainly interested in withdrawing from the recent turbulent market conditions and investing in secure backup plans. This ranges from sourcing private high-end residential assets for private offices representing wealthy families and their children considering their upcoming university studies to acquiring significant amounts in commodities such as precious stones and metals (diamonds, sapphires, gold, silver) or artworks, with the intention to see the value of these assets appreciate over the next few years.
Current options that are available through our company to clients in need of a rapid assistance are:
- Commercial, retail and hospitality real estate in secure and high valued locations around Europe and Switzerland
- Luxury residential assets available to foreigners with full service package including residence permit
- Building plots with granted construction permits available to foreigners including residence permit and tax rebate
- Immediate investment options in gold and precious stones, and art investment
Currently Switzerland is one of the locations that retain our clients’ attention. Considered as a stable political system for more than 700 years without being member of the European Union, Switzerland offers high quality living standards with outstanding educational institutions ranking in the top 100 of the world’s best universities and an uncontestable quality of air that has an average result for Small Particle pollution (PM10) of 5 µg/m3 in 2015.
Why LCP?
A large majority of our clients, especially our respected clients from Asia and Middle East do not wish to speak to various counterparts for residence permits, insurance issues, development and construction, taking care of their lodging during their absence or helping them to acquire commercial assets for their company. They enjoy the possibility of having one sole communication partner, one face to refer to, throughout their entire decision-making process, especially if this can be done in their own native language, which we are proud to offer, of course.
Our company strives to bring together several professional backgrounds from different industries, giving clients alternative choices and angles to evaluate their potential investment projects. As such, no field of expertise is over represented in the company, which clearly offers a global view or a big picture to investors.
Unlike large investment sourcing companies, LCP provides a wide spectrum of diversity in cultures among its partners and associates, with many different professional backgrounds. We are global and yet distinct with a human scale service guaranteeing our international clients’ confidentiality. It is this unique feature that makes us exceptional in our relation with our international clients.
This allows us to limit all the necessary information with absolute confidentiality within a very restricted and exclusive circle of people. This helps to assure confidence and give full comfort to our most discerning clients who will appreciate to talk to one contact person only in the decision making process and develop a true relationship with us over the years, by their side.
